India-Russia Academic Ties Strengthen Through Media Education Partnership

A delegation from India’s University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) and Bennett University visited RT Academy Headquarters in Moscow to deepen cooperation in media education. This follows RT Academy's prior masterclasses in India.

The institutions discussed expanding joint initiatives: masterclasses, seminars, internships for Indian students, and exploring partnerships with MGIMO and HSE University. Anna Kovtunova, Head of RT’s Educational Projects Department, emphasized the goal of providing "real professional experience" for students.

These efforts build on an established foundation of academic ties. UPES has an MoU with HSE University, and Bennett University signed an MoU with Russia’s Innopolis University to launch a collaborative AI-driven research lab.

This visit also aligns with the broader Russia-India strategic partnership. During President Putin's December 2025 state visit to New Delhi, new agreements included a memorandum between the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, and National Tomsk State University, and a tripartite education accord between the University of Mumbai, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

Media cooperation was also strengthened, with Prasar Bharati signing MoUs with Gazprom-Media, National Media Group, BIG ASIA Media Group, TV-Novosti, and TV BRICS.

For BRICS+, this demonstrates how media education and cross-institutional partnerships are powerful drivers of deeper academic ties and capacity building.
