The University having its jurisdiction over entire J & K State started its academic journey in 2006 with five disciplines which has now increased to 58 in 2023. The student enrolment also witnessed a remarkable progress from 186 in 2006 to more than 4500 in 2023. Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Kashmir established through an Act of the legislature in 2005, accredited by NAAC and recognized by UGC under section 2F and 12B has emerged prominently on the higher education landscape of J & K UT. The university is offering 58 academic and research programmes for which the admission process tentatively starts in May-June every year.
