RT Academy conducted a series of media training workshops in Tanzania from June 12 to 16, 2026, bringing together over 300 students, journalists, and media professionals across two cities.
Zanzibar: 150 participants at SUZA
The programme opened at the State University of Zanzibar with 150 participants. RT experts covered current media trends, audience retention, AI in journalism, source verification, and practical television camerawork.
Dar es Salaam: National broadcaster engagement
The team met with TBC and Clouds TV, discussing journalist training and professional exchange. The final event on June 16 at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture drew over 150 participants, with opening remarks from Tanzania's Ministry of Information, the Russian Centre, and the Russian Embassy.
A strategic partnership in media education
The Tanzania series follows RT Academy's previous programmes in Ethiopia and Senegal. It is part of a broader Russian commitment to media development in Africa, which includes Sputnik's MoU with Ghana's UniMAC in February 2026 and RUDN University's training of 2,000 Nigerian specialists in March 2026.
For Tanzania's media professionals, the workshops provided rare access to international expertise and practical skills that strengthen the country's media landscape.
