Iran-India relations should be expanded within BRICS framework
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Tehran and New Delhi enjoy significant potential for expanding cooperation, emphasizing the need to strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties, particularly within the framework of BRICS.
Pezeshkian reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran's commitment to expanding and deepening its relations with India, saying that ties between the two countries are built on a long-standing historical relationship and mutual respect. He noted that there is considerable potential to enhance cooperation across a wide range of fields, including politics, the economy, trade, transit, and international affairs.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the telephone conversation, reaffirmed his country's support for any initiative aimed at promoting peace and stability in the West Asia region.
Modi also referred to the support and cooperation among BRICS members in advancing the organization's agenda and expressed satisfaction with the progress made within the bloc. He extended a formal invitation to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to attend the upcoming BRICS Leaders' Summit, which will be hosted by India, expressing hope that the meeting would help further strengthen multilateral cooperation among member states.
